Almost a year ago now, beneath the nearly infinite starry blanket of the Cajón del Maipo sky, warmed by a bonfire and after defeating a second bottle of wine, Felipe and I had an idea. Eventually, that idea became a project, and that project is now a reality: the city of New Avalon.
We wanted to explore the effect of the environment on people—or in this case, on characters. Because we are not beings existing in a void: our surroundings exert a constant and inescapable pressure that shapes our worldview, molds our behavior, and—ultimately—leads us to choose whether we want to walk through life on the path of light or amid the shadows of human morality. As a result, no one is completely good, or entirely evil: we are the product of a system far greater than ourselves, one that exists despite our fleeting presence.
With all that in mind, the environment itself becomes a character: New Avalon is the protagonist of our story.
Let’s accompany the Meiden as he sells weed in the parking lot of Echoes of Avalon Arena, let’s listen to Franarrá’s latest album, and let’s spend the night at The Hemorrhage—if we’re lucky, we might survive till morning.
Consider this your invitation to explore this new world together. The first of the stories is now here for you… and many more are coming. Soon, we’ll have news to share.
For now, welcome to New Avalon—where everything is paid for in the same currency.
Víctor & Felipe.
